Goodbye email to colleagues on last working day

Best Goodbye letter to coworkers

Part one –

Say you’re leaving and when.

Write, “It is with a heavy heart that “I announce my last day at company will be date.” Another option is, “I’ve had to make” a difficult decision to end my time at the company. “My last day will be a date.”

Part two, Your Reason :-

This is completely optional. we think if you are grabbing a sweet opportunity at the company down the street because they poached you,

Do not include a reason.

But if you’re moving on because of your spouse or you’re going back to school or anything like that, I would recommend saying something.

You could write something like I will be attending USC full-time to study nano engineering. It has been a dream of mine for years and I’m so excited to fulfill it.

Part three, Gratitude :-

Besides saying you’re actually leaving, this is the most important part, even if this job was sushi at a gas station level bad, you’ve got to come up with a few things that you were grateful for.

It’s so important that you leave the company on a good note because as a side note, before I got the job offer for my current job, the CEO of my company texted two CEOs of previous companies I had worked for to ask if I was a good hire.

Talk about the importance of not burning bridges.

One bad word from one of those CEOs and I wouldn’t have my job today. Take good care with this messaging.

So you could write, “After X time at this company, “I have had a lot to be grateful for.” And then talk about your relationships with co-workers, the skills you learned, any projects you’re proud of, whatever’s meaningful to you.

Here’s a template that you can take –

I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with who I consider some of the most talented individuals I have come across in my career. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together, and I’m a better professional because of it.

Part four, anything logistical :-

If there is someone taking over your projects or is the new contact for certain things, let people know. You could say, “I will be handing off my projects to name, “do contact him or her for any inquiries.”

Part five, contact information: –

Many people share their personal email and encourage co-workers to stay in touch and grab coffee in the future. Also, if you have any last day plans like meeting at happy hour as a going away party, mention it.

Which part of this letter is toughest for you to write?

Where are you getting stuck?

Leave a comment. So here is the letter all together, and then afterwards, I’mgoing to give you a tip that left a huge impression when I left a company, and I’ll also give you the subject line to use for this email.

Goodbye Email to Colleagues on Last Working Day

Hello Team,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my last day at Self Made Millennial will be March 19. I will be moving back to Boston to be closer to my family.

Family means everything to me and it’s time for me to come back after 10 years of being away. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with who I consider to be some of the most talented and genuine individuals that I have come across in my career.

I am proud of the work we’ve accomplished together, and I am a better professional because of it. I will be handing off my projects to Vickie, do contact her for any inquiries.

Here is my personal email and LinkedIn, I’d love to meet at a coffee shop for a good catch-up chat!

xyz@gmail.com

Also, I’ll be going to happy hour on Friday should anyone want to join, I would love to see you there.

All the best,

Jhon deco.

It’s good to send this email out to your team or company, but for anyone who’s worked closely with you, they will want to hear that you’re leaving from you, not a mass email.

So we recommend telling the people close to you first before announcing this to the whole team or whole company. And now my big tip is write handwritten goodbye notes to as many of your co-workers as you had a personal connection with.
